Scriptilly

Privacy & Security

Scriptilly is built for classrooms, so privacy and trust matter. This page explains, in plain language, what information Scriptilly collects, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

1. What Scriptilly is

Scriptilly is a teacher-controlled writing process environment. Teachers create assignments, students write inside the Scriptilly workspace, and the app supports drafting, feedback, revision, and final submission.

Scriptilly is not a public social platform, an advertising platform, or an AI ghostwriting tool.

2. Information we collect

Scriptilly collects only the information needed to run the app, support assignments, and keep the service working properly. This may include:

  • Teacher account information, such as name, email address, and login details.
  • Student assignment information, such as a student name or display name, assignment access information, drafts, final submissions, and teacher feedback.
  • Assignment information, such as prompts, rubrics, instructions, due dates, and writing process settings.
  • Writing process information, such as autosave activity, draft submissions, revision activity, and writing process reminders.
  • Ask Scriptilly interactions, such as student questions and Scriptilly responses, where this support feature is used.
  • Contact form information, such as name, email address, phone number if provided, reason for contact, and the message sent through the contact form.
  • Technical and security information, such as timestamps, browser or device information, error logs, and basic security logs.

3. IP addresses and technical logs

Scriptilly does not use IP addresses to identify students or grade writing. However, like most web apps, our hosting, database, email, and security providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, and error logs to help keep the service secure and working properly.

4. Why we collect information

We use information to:

  • Allow teachers to create and manage assignments.
  • Allow students to access and complete assignments.
  • Save drafts, submissions, teacher comments, and revisions.
  • Provide bounded writing-process support through Scriptilly.
  • Help teachers review student work and provide feedback.
  • Respond to contact, support, or feedback requests.
  • Protect the app from misuse, bugs, spam, and security risks.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not sell student or teacher information.
  • We do not use student writing for advertising.
  • We do not publish student writing.
  • We do not present Scriptilly as an AI detector.
  • We do not treat writing process reminders as plagiarism or AI-use findings by themselves.

6. How Scriptilly uses AI

Scriptilly may use AI to provide bounded writing-process support. This support is designed to help students understand the assignment, connect their work to the rubric, plan next steps, and revise their own writing.

Scriptilly is not designed to write assignments for students. Students remain responsible for their own thinking, writing, revision, and final submission.

7. Service providers

Scriptilly uses trusted service providers to run the app. These may include hosting, database, authentication, email, and AI service providers. These services help Scriptilly function, but they should only receive information needed for their role in providing the service.

8. Security measures

Scriptilly uses practical security measures to protect teacher and student information. These include:

  • Login-protected teacher accounts.
  • Assignment access codes and student assignment passwords.
  • Server-side API keys stored outside public code.
  • Database access boundaries and role-based permissions.
  • Secure hosting and deployment practices.
  • Limited access to administrative systems.
  • Ongoing review of privacy, security, and data practices.

9. Data retention

Scriptilly keeps assignment, draft, feedback, and process records so teachers and students can use the service and review writing development over time.

As Scriptilly develops, we will continue improving our retention and deletion settings for teachers, students, and institutions.

10. Questions or privacy requests

If you have a question about Scriptilly’s privacy or security practices, or if you want to ask about information connected to your account or assignment, please use our contact form.
